SPIRITUAL GIFTS

Spiritual gifts are given in grace and in unique combinations to every believer to enable each of us to fulfill God’s unfolding mission to the world. The Holy Spirit empowers these believers to serve as the body of Christ, the church, to watching and unbelieving world.

Spiritual gifts may be “word-oriented” or “deed-oriented,” and each believer has been given at least one gift that is useful to the body of Christ. Furthermore, each gift is unique and contributes to individual mission and leadership within the body of Jesus Christ.

A key to living out a life of mission is to truly understand what your spiritual gifts are. Most gift assessments are based upon scripture found in Romans 12, 1 Corinthians 12, Ephesians 4 and 1 Peter 4. These passages contain the most reliable types and definitions of spiritual gifts.

It is generally a good idea to take two or more gift tests to confirm your gifts. Some of the websites that will help you identify your spiritual gifts are:

Finally, validation of your gifts will occur by divinely imparted truth and by validation and affirmation from family and friends within the body of Christ. At LEADNOW, we use a 360 Degree evaluation of your spiritual gifts assessment on our mission trips, bible studies and other discipleship events. It is only through affirmation of the use of your spiritual gifts that you will be able to clearly confirm your gifts.

When people serve according to the spiritual gifts that they have been given, they serve as the Father has ordained. When surrendered people lead from the foundations of faith, hope and love, embarking on a mission equipped with spiritual gifts, they truly become servant leaders, and servant leadership is the only type of leadership that matters in God’s economy.
